Admission Requirements
All study programs at the Anton Bruckner Private University usually require an audition or entrance examination.
This includes bachelors, masters and doctoral programmes, the Pre-College (ABF), the university course "Music Education", extracurricular degree programmes (AO), Certificate Programmes and the Secondary School Teacher Education Programme.
A high school diploma is not required for a bachelor programme, with the exception of the teacher education programme.
A master programme requires a successfully completed bachelor programme or equivalent education.
German language certificate
Foreign-language applicants must prove that they have a sufficient knowledge of the German language (except for those study programmes in the field of dance where English is the language of instruction).
- Language diploma for artistic bachelor's degrees (KBA) and artistic master's degrees (KMA): B1 (CEFR) - to be submitted at the latest before registering for the continuation of studies for the 3rd semester
Exception: B1 (GER) for KBA Voice and KMA Voice is to be submitted at initial enrollment. - Language diploma for pedagogical bachelor's degrees (PBA): B1 (CEFR) - to be submitted at initial enrollment
- Language diploma for Master's degree programs in education (PMA): B2 (GER) - to be presented at initial enrollment
As of January 1, 2024: The following are accepted as proof of German:
- Austrian Language Diploma German (ÖSD)
- Language certificate of the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF)
- Goethe certificate
- German language test for university admission (DSH)
- German language diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education (DSD)
- telc language certificate
- Positive completion of a language course at an Austrian university at the required level
- Completion of 8 years of schooling at a German-speaking school
- 4 years of German lessons at secondary level II and matriculation examination in German
- Completion of the matriculation examination in German
Note: The documents required under 1-7 must not be older than two years at the time of submission. The documents required under 8-10 are valid for an unlimited period.
The original document must be submitted. The examination result must be clearly stated on the document. Language course certificates without a final exam will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Please note
It is not possible to simultaneously pursue a second degree with the same study objective at a different university of music, college of music or comparable domestic or foreign post-secondary or tertiary educational institution (e.g. two BA degrees in Cello Performance).
