The Bruckner University
Bruckner University is an open, innovative house of the arts, where tomorrow's artists and educators in the fields of music, drama and dance receive an individual education. We look back on more than 200 years of history as an artistic educational institution and have been accredited as a private university owned by the province of Upper Austria since 2004.
We see ourselves as an open university in an open society, as a place for experimentation, as a place to ask questions and try things out; as a place where art in all its facets is created and lived – dynamically, diversely, innovatively and curiously.
We offer a wide range of courses, from Instrumental Studies in classical concert performance, Voice, Music Education, Jazz and Improvised Music, Composition, Elemental Music Education and Music Mediation, to Contemporary Stage Dance, Dance Education, Movement Research and Drama. In addition, there is the development of the arts, the scholarly research of art-related topics (for example, through our new Nikolaus Harnoncourt Center), as well as artistic research at the intersection of scholarly and artistic methods.
Encouraging and challenging
Our teaching faculty consists of more than 220 internationally renowned artists, educators, and scholars. Together, they have set themselves the goal of supporting, promoting and challenging our students in their individual artistic development in the best possible way.
Regional and international
As an open university in an open society, we are anchored regionally and connected globally.
Through cooperation with numerous regional, national and international educational, research and cultural institutions, our students have access to numerous performance and teaching opportunities from the very beginning.
Bruckner University is a member of the Austrian Private Universities Conference.
