From music school to university

Music education in Linz has a tradition of more than 200 years. The Anton Bruckner Private University was originally founded in 1823 as a singing school. In 1932 it was appointed as a conservatory. The Bruckner Conservatory was transformed into a private university supported by the state of Upper Austria in 2004. In October 2015, the Anton Bruckner Private University began its studies in the new university building in Linz-Urfahr, at the foot of the Pöstlingberg, which was built by the Federal State of Upper Austria.

Martin Rummel has been President of the Anton Bruckner Private University since October 2021.
