Here you will find general information about the requirements, funding amounts and deadlines for our scholarships, grants and competitions.
Please note the respective deadlines and required documents. Only applications that are submitted on time and complete can be considered.
Study grant
Austrian students at the Anton Bruckner Private University are entitled to state study grants in the event of social hardship.

ÖH social fund
The social fund of the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH) offers students who are members of the ÖH and are in a particularly difficult financial situation the opportunity to receive a one-time grant every 12 months. Applications can be submitted at any time.

Promotional scholarships serve to promote the scholarly or artistic work of students in regular studies at universities, private universities, university of applied sciences degree programmes and theological colleges (Section 63 of the 1992 Austrian Student Support Act (StudFG), Federal Law Gazette No. 305/1992, as amended).
The Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) provides a total of 5% of the funds used for student support in the last calendar year for achievement-based and promotional scholarships at public and private universities, theological colleges and university of applied sciences degree programmes (Section 48 [1] StudFG). The Federal Minister allocates these budget funds by decree to the individual universities, private universities, theological colleges and providers of university of applied sciences degree programmes based on the number of degree completions by Austrian students in the past academic year (Leistungs- und Förderungsstipendien-Verordnung [Austrian Regulation on Performance and Needs-Based Scholarships]).
Achievement-based scholarships at universities, private universities, university of applied sciences degree programmes and theological colleges serve as recognition of outstanding academic achievements. The Isidor-Stögbauer-Donation supports regular students in an instrumental or vocal class at the Anton Bruckner Private University who have been found to be in need and whose performance has been deemed worthy of support.
The Helmut Schiff Donation is awarded annually to support young composers and conductors.
In accordance with the foundation's mission, the Hofstätter Scholarship supports talented, economically challenged students of Austrian citizenship who are enrolled in a degree programme at an Austrian university.
The Dr. Josef Ratzenböck Scholarship is awarded to music students at an Upper Austrian state music school, to students at the Academy for the Support of Gifted Children and to students at the Upper Austrian Dance Academy. A total of 20 scholarships of €1,500 each are awarded.

The aim of the award is to recognize outstanding achievements in the category of university graduates, among others.

The Upper Austrian Singing Academy supports full-time vocal students at the Anton Bruckner Private University who have been found to be worthy of support for their outstanding commitment. The Upper Austrian Singing Academy scholarship amounts to €1,000 and can be paid to one or more students.
Requirements
- Full-time vocal studies at the ABPU
- Completed application including all required documents
Documents to be submitted
- Completed application form
- Confirmation of enrolment
- Performance documentation, or a description of how the scholarship is to be used.
Deadline
The application deadline is November 30 of the current academic year.
The complete application documents are to be sent in digital form to the email address of the Institute for Voice and Music Theatre at the Anton Bruckner Private University: voctyrbrucknerunirat.
Procedure
- On the basis of the submitted documents, the jury (Thomas Kerbl, Peter Pawlik, Robert Holzer) will make a decision after an audition and inform the applicants of any award.
- For the audition, at least 5 pieces from opera, oratorio and song, including 1 piece in German, are to be submitted. The program is to be attached to the completed application form.
- An audition will take place shortly after the application deadline.
There is no legal entitlement to funding or to the amount of support.
The prize is awarded once a year to two alumni, each receiving €1,000.
Erasmus+ mobility grants
The EU provides financial support for studying at a foreign institution in the form of a scholarship. The amount is based on the cost of living and varies depending on the destination country. The Erasmus+ mobility grant is therefore not a full scholarship, but rather a supplement to help offset the increased costs of studying abroad.

At the Anton Bruckner University, financial support is awarded in the form of competition prizes to students during their studies (without limitation to a specific phase of studies) via the following competitions:
Internal competitions
- Operetta competition of the ABPU Music Theater Studio
- Internal competition of the ABPU Institute for Voice and Music Theatre
- Prize money: € 6,000
- Held every 2 years

- BRISK Ensemble Competition for Early Music
- Every spring, the Institute for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice organizes an internal chamber music competition, with prizes and awards being awarded by an international jury.
- Prize money: € 2,800
- Held: annually in the summer semester
- Coordination: Anne Marie Dragosits and Elisabeth Wiesbauer
External competitions
- Nibelungen Sponsorship Award
- The Nibelungen Sponsorship Award is awarded annually by the Lions Club Nibelungen and is announced annually for a different instrument.
- First prize: €5,000
- Lions Music Prize
- The Lions Music Prize is awarded annually by Lions Multidistrict 114 Austria and is always announced for a different instrument.
