Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio

In the 2013/14 academic year, a new Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio was developed at the Institute of Voice and Music Theatre. It is an additional course to the existing Bachelor's and Master's programmes. It is aimed at singers who are about to enter the profession after completing their studies.

The course participants are prepared for their first engagement at an opera house through targeted extra-occupational subjects, in order to facilitate the singer's entry into the professional world.

The development of complete specialized parts is made possible and work is done on the scenic implementation. In a wide variety of productions with our cooperation partners, students have the opportunity to perform in public.

Profile

The Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio is aimed primarily at singers who have completed their BA/MA in Vocal Education and are interested in a professional career as a singer and are in the process of applying to opera houses and theatre agencies. The Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio is designed to provide significant support for those entering the profession.

Prerequisites

A completed BA is a requirement for admission to the Certificate Programme. An MA in Voice is an advantage, but not a requirement for admission. Admission to the Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio is based on an audition and the assessment of vocal technique. There is no entitlement to Voice as a major artistic subject.

Teaching Objective

The Certificate Programme Music Theatre Studio is a response to the wide-ranging skills that young singers are currently expected to have in order to get a stage engagement. It is devoted primarily to areas that are not covered in-depth in Vocal Education. Questions of artistic interpretation and role design are included in the teaching, as are intensive training preparations for auditions and knowledge of legal matters (contracts, insurance, tax law).

Content

The curriculum includes subjects such as role design, interpretation options, part study, scenic design, audition training, styling and make-up, creating application material, as well as auditions with agencies, artistic directors and conductors. Additional elective modules in musicology can be chosen from the wide range offered by the Anton Bruckner Private University.

Degree

After successfully completing all prescribed courses and passing the final artistic exam, the Anton Bruckner University awards a certificate.
