Georg Birner was born in Amberg in 1978 and studied Trumpet with Prof. Malte Burba at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory and at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.

As a member of various youth orchestras, he acquired a broad musical spectrum early on. He played in the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra, the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Rhineland-Palatinate Youth Jazz Orchestra and the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra.
He gained his first professional experience at the Apollo Theater Stuttgart in the musicals "Dance of the Vampires" and "42nd Street" and at the Stadttheater Pforzheim. After an internship with the Munich Radio Orchestra, Georg Birner received a one-year contract there as 2nd Trumpet and has since participated in numerous radio and CD productions of this orchestra. From 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then he has made guest appearances
regularly appears as a freelance Trumpet in orchestras and theatres, including the Landestheater Niederbayern, the Hofer Symphoniker, the Staatstheater Nürnberg and the Landestheater Coburg. He has performed internationally in the USA, Brazil and South Korea.

Georg Birner is active in chamber music in the ensemble Zephir (www.trompetenensemble-zephir.de) and plays in the brass band Philharmenka (www.philharmenka.de).

Georg Birner began his teaching career as an instrumental teacher at his former school, the Max-Reger-Gymnasium Amberg. He has given workshops at the Grassau Music School, with the Brass Band Munich and was a lecturer at the Woodstock Academy in 2022.
As a teacher for brass instruments, he currently teaches at the Musikwerkstatt unisono in Offenberg-Neuhausen. In 2016, he founded the Burba®Brass Academy together with Andreas Stich. He has also made a name for himself as a licensed Burba®Brass teacher, teaching both numerous students and orchestral musicians.
 
Georg Birner has been teaching brass technique at the ABPU since October 2022.
