Aim

The certificate programme imparts knowledge of various approaches to inclusive music-making through theoretical analysis and practical application. This is understood to mean a process in which music is taught and practised in heterogeneous groups, individually adapted to the abilities and skills of the musicians.

The skills acquired in the certificate programme enable graduates to make music with people in their professional fields in an inclusive way.

Didactics of inclusive music-making
Fields of music, music therapy approaches and their relevance in inclusive music education, musical group experience, improvisation, specialist literature, observation of group dynamic processes, psychosocial skills.

Physiotherapy basics 
neurology and neuropsychology, fundamental factors for the execution of movements, movement disorders of the central nervous system, neurophysiological disorders, special clinical pictures.

Differential-sensitive pedagogy
Paradigm shift in the care of people with disabilities – special needs education (specific requirements for living together) – emotional impairment and the modification of frameworks for special needs – empowerment – emotional development in children and adolescents – difficulties and obstacles.

Music theory/instrumental practice 
Basic knowledge of music theory, composition and arrangement techniques, handling and playing techniques of elementary instruments, simple accompaniment techniques on the piano or guitar, voice training.

Music-making practices/presentation
theater performance, music and movement, musical comedies, public relations, project development, financing and logistical implementation, performance practices, moderation.ation.

  • Work shadowing in the field of working with people with disabilities and/or previous experience in dealing with people with disabilities

The Certificate Programme Music & Inclusion lasts 4 semesters. 
Each semester, 4 blocked seminars take place, mainly on Fridays and all day on Saturdays.
The teaching practice takes place weekly or in blocks of 15 hours each in state music schools, in teaching classes at the University of Education, etc.

Between the block seminars, participants complete assignments in the form of self-study, consolidation, application in the classroom and preparation. In addition, there is continuous exchange with the lecturers of the certificate programme.

Key qualifications

  • Musically: Wide-ranging musical interest, healthy and trainable voice, basic knowledge of an instrument of your choice.
  • Other: Work shadowing in the field of working with people with disabilities and/or previous experience in dealing with people with disabilities. Motivation for working with people with disabilities.

Admission procedure

Please send the completed registration form (see download) and a video with the following content:

Introduce yourself in the video with a piece of music on an instrument of your choice or with your voice.

  • Any form of musical self-expression is possible
  • improvisation, songs, instrumental pieces, etc.
  • There are no limits to your imagination

These two documents will be discussed by a jury of experts and used to select the candidates. If the assessment is positive, admission will be granted in the order in which applications are received.

  • Planning, implementation, organization and execution of a musical contribution with an inclusive music group as part of a public event.
  • Written documentation of the musical project.

After the positive completion of all prescribed courses and the successful implementation of the final project, the ABPU issues a certified programme certificate.
