Certificate Programme Early Music

Academy for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice

Do you love Early Music and want to familiarize yourself with the principles of historical performance practice? Do you want to experience that “tradition” has many different faces?

The Anton Bruckner Private University offers a 4-semester further education course in “Early Music and Historical Performance Practice”. This course aims to implement an understanding of performance practice in the current environment in an artistic way. It deepens fundamental content and insights from text and context and thus leads to an artistic-practical examination of Western music since the late Middle Ages.

For this purpose, the Anton Bruckner Private University has historical keyboard, wind and string instruments in the form of replicas. Chamber Music, Baroque Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble and Historical Dance are the fields of work for exchanging ideas and working together with representatives of “modern” instruments. The certificate programme is structured in such a way that it can be attended alongside a job or another training programme. The prerequisite for participating in the certificate programme is passing an entrance exam. Successful completion is certified with a certificate.

In addition, the “International Early Music Days” are organized every year as a forum for the early music scene. A top-class team of international guest lecturers and lecturers from the Anton Bruckner Private University work with participants from Austria and neighboring countries.
