Certificate Programme Choral Conducting
The Certificate Programme Choral Conducting is aimed primarily at amateur choral directors and graduates of the choral conducting training offered at the Upper Austrian state music schools who wish to acquire a well-founded specialist education in conducting a choir.
Teaching goal
Mastery of choral literature and rehearsal techniques without any problems in terms of craftsmanship. The range of literature extends from sophisticated folk songs to demanding a cappella pieces; for accompanied choral music, for example, Carmina Burana (Carl Orff), Liebesliederwalzer (Johannes Brahms) or the Mozart Requiem. Graduates should be able to sing these works, play the piano, and conduct, and thus be able to rehearse the works with the choir, if necessary, alone at the piano.
Target group
Demanding amateur choir directors who want to be musically responsive to the choir, who want to be able to flexibly adapt to the choir's abilities, and who want a well-founded professional training to acquire the tools of the trade for choir direction. Basic musical and conducting experience is required, as are sufficient piano skills and good vocal aptitude. This course is particularly aimed at graduates of the choir conducting training offered at the Upper Austrian state music schools, as well as members of the choir associations.

The curriculum includes subjects such as Piano for Choir Conductors, Conducting, Aural Training (Sight Singing) and Voice. In addition, internships and hospitations are planned in the curriculum, with visits to and practical experience in choirs of different orientations.
