Institute of Dance Arts
Health & Individual Support
Research shows that statistically, dancers continue to suffer from high rates of injury.
Contemporary dance requires dancers to constantly adapt to new movement patterns and stresses. The translation of dance techniques into one's own individual body and the high workload of training and rehearsals always pose challenges in our field.
We address this situation with several approaches:
Information, individual attention, choices to manage personal training loads, and periodization in semester planning.
Courses such as Applied Anatomy, Exercise Science, and Electives on Individual Health inform and promote a better understanding of one's situation.
Movement Essentials Body Coaching is a course offered in the bachelor's degree program from year one to year three. In addition to techniques such as Yoga, Pilates, or Spiral Dynamics, as well as aerobic endurance training, our Gyrotonic equipment is also a very relevant way to explore individual potential and support health.
