The Institute for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice (ALT) takes a passionate and historically informed approach to music from the Renaissance to the early Romantic period. We offer our services to all students at the university, as well as to those who specialize in the study of Early Music, providing them with practical and theoretical training and reflection.

Our faculty are active internationally as performers and researchers and bring this experience to their teaching at the Anton Bruckner University. Students appreciate both the active Chamber Music and Baroque Orchestra life, combined with a broad range of theory courses on historical performance practice, as well as the interaction with the L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra – an orchestra that emerged from the faculty and alumni of the ABPU and now has an international reach.

The Euridice Baroque Orchestra's projects, the International Early Music Days (ITAM) and the BRISK Ensemble Competition are fixed points in the academic year.
