Drama
The Institute for Drama (ACT) offers interested, open-minded and imaginative young people comprehensive training in voice, speaking, body and acting. Our goal is to produce confident artists with a solid training in their craft who can find their own way in and out of the theater business and are able to realize their potential both in an ensemble and as freelance actors.
The joy of acting and studying is just as important as the professional teaching of course content and the independent development of scenes and projects.
The faculty consists of artists and educators who work in very different styles and methods. They are in constant communication with each other in order to best promote the artistic development of the students. Numerous guest lecturers enrich the curriculum with projects, seminars and workshops.
From the second academic year onwards, the Institute of Drama offers students continuous integration into professional practice through numerous festivals and other cultural venues in Upper Austria. From the third academic year onwards, students can regularly be seen in productions at the Landestheater Linz as part of a joint drama studio. In addition, students can realize a film project. In the fourth academic year, there is also the opportunity to complete a studio year at Theater Chemnitz or an Erasmus mobility.
Every year, the institute organizes the Schau! Spiel! LabLinz – a university meeting for students in their second year of drama. Each year, the focus is on a different area of specialization in the drama programme. Each participating university presents an artistic work or an open teaching/lecture performance. In addition, there is an extensive workshop programme, panel discussions and encounters with artists.
